Supermagnet

The price on 8mm or .25' Neodymium supermagnet spheres (/amateur/neosphere.html) has come down enough thatnow we can afford to play with huge blobs of them. They behave like giantatoms. ...giant atoms existing in the everyday world! Play with huge atomswhile observing the strange behavior of the chemical bonding force, see 3D molecular structures, and spontaneous self-assembly, and various biological phenomena.

SUPERMAGNET POTENTIAL. FeNix Magnetics, Inc. Is developing a next-generation supermagnet, ∝”-Fe16N2, known as ADPIN, (Alpha Double Prime Iron Nitride). ADPIN is targeted to deliver three to four times the magnetic energy density of today’s best supermagnet, (known as. All together: The 32 T magnet lowered into its cryostat. (Courtesy: Huub Weijers, NHMFL, Florida) Super-strong magnets are a relatively recent phenomenon. At supermagnete we offer business and private customers high-quality permanent magnets and magnetic products in various shapes and sizes and for multi-purpose applications. Due to their special adhesive force, neodymium pot magnets are suitable for a variety of mounting options.

Bead-array Bar Magnet

If a single large supermagnet approaches a color CRT, the colors willdistort. But wave a blob of bead magnets near the CRT and nothinghappens. They naturally organize themselves into small closed loops withnearly zero field outside the loops. In a blob, the beads act like randomdomains, and the blob of beads acts like unmagnetized iron.

So let's 'magnetize' a blob of sphere-magnets by aligning all the spheres in the same direction. First, make a long chain of magnet beads. Long chains of magnets always align, and they have a strong North end and South end. Dangle the chainvertically, then break it in the center and bring the lower chain upparallel to the top half. Push the two chains together. (The ends, beingalike poles, will repel, but the center zips together.) Now repeat: holdthe dual chain vertically, break it in the center, then bring the bottomhalf up and push the two chains together. Fold the four chains lengthwiseto form a rod. This rod is a powerful bar-magnet with opposite poles onits ends. Wave it a foot or two away from a CRT monitor and observe thedistortion and colors. (WARNING! KEEP THE MAGNET AT LEAST 10' AWAY FROMYOUR CRT SCREEN!) Now smash the rod and scramble it up into a globagain. The external field goes away.

OUR TARGET MARKET

Super Magnets Amazon

Our initial target market for ADPIN is magnetic refrigeration, specifically first for commercial refrigeration followed by commercial HVAC markets. The magnetic refrigeration process cycles a magneto-caloric material between regions of high and low magnetic field and uses the resulting thermal cycle in much the same way as a conventional compressor. Magnetic refrigeration is an ideal application space for ADPIN because it emphasizes the value of the high saturation magnetization (Ms) which is projected to be 2.8T, a 75% increase over NdFeB rare earth permanent magnets.
